I did not know her long, but I do know this about Baboos. Baboos was the sweetest dog anyone could ever meet. She was loving and protective and always goofy.
Baboos’ real name is Rallo and she has been with Veronica for 10 years. She grew up in the Bronx and when Veronica decided to move, Rallo came too. Most recently, they both travelled across the country in a U-Haul destined for Southern California. From what I hear, Baboos was the perfect travelling companion.
We lost Baboos on Sunday afternoon. We don’t know for sure, but the vet believes it was a massive tumor in her belly that exploded and caused her to bleed out internally. This was not a painful way to go, in fact, she was very short of breath and then just went to sleep. We were both with her when she passed and we did everything we could to try and save her.
In our mourning, we found some solace in knowing that Baboos had brought Veronica to me. She has been protecting her for so long and it was almost like she knew that it was okay to leave now that I was around.
I loved that dog more than I realized. She was a big part of my life and someone that I will miss every single day.
Rest In Peace, Baboos. Play with Malachi and meet Darwin. They’ll take good care of you.
Goodbye, Baboos. You really were a great dog. Murphy will miss you.
